Durian Udang Merah

Durian Udang Merah also known as D175, has a orange to mild yellow color on it flesh.
This durian is said to get its name in conjunction with its thick, soft, reddish orange-yellow filling, creamy fat with a sweet taste and an appetizing smell.

Origin Of Durian Udang Merah

The origin of the Red Prawn Durian breed is not known in detail but it was officially registered under the Malaysian Department of Agriculture on 4 June 1990 with the registration code D175 together with 4 other types of durian breeds, namely Durian Kuning (D176), Durian Juara 90 Penang (D177), Durian Penang 88 (D178) and Durian Penang 99 (D179).

Originally this durian could only be found in Penang but its cultivation has now expanded to other states such as Pahang and Johor due to high demand. However, there is a view that says that the durian grown in Pulau Mutiara has a different taste compared to those grown in other states.
