This durian is from Muar, Johor. The mother’s tree was found in the yard of the house of Haja Hasma Bata Hashim. Although many people wanted to buy it, Haja did not want to sell it, and he only gave it to his neighbors and relatives.
During the durian season, Haja faced the problem of squirrels invading his durian farm. To solve the problem, he asked his neighbor for help to hunt the squirrels that attacked his duran trees. In addition to the cash payment, Hasma also gave his neighbor some durians.
With the broken twigs that the neighbor picked up, the neighbor tried to grow the durian tree. Eventually, the tree grew and had the same appearance and taste as the original tree.
This eventually led to Hasmah growing and selling the durians from his yard, which was registered as a superior durian variety with the code D168 on 24 May, 1989.
Durian IOI flesh is yellow-orange and has a medium-thick flesh. After the first bite of meat, you can feel its strong aroma and delicate texture. Then you will feel a hint of bitterness along with a creamy and sweet taste. Another durian that will allow you to experience both sweet and bitter is Mao Shan Wang, also known as Musang King. In addition, the older the tree, the more bittersweet the meat will taste!
